A grant application is a story with a budget attached. Most organizations get the budget right and the story wrong — they describe activities when funders are buying outcomes.

I’ve spent 9 years in nonprofit fundraising, on the inside of organizations from hyper-local to multi-chapter, which means I write grants the way program officers read them. Every application makes three things unmissable: the need is real, your approach works, and this specific funder’s money changes what happens next.

The deliverable is never just one application. Along the way we build your boilerplate library — mission language, program descriptions, impact statements, budget narratives — so the second grant takes half the time and the fifth one nearly writes itself. And when you win, the final reports get the same care as the pitch, because reporting well is how one-time funders become repeat funders.

How we’ll work together

  1. To — Discovery and fit: your programs, your numbers, and whether this funder is worth your effort. I’ll tell you honestly if it isn’t.
  2. Through — Drafting, review cycles with your team, and submission — on the funder’s deadline, not near it.
  3. Beyond — Deliverables, final reports, and a boilerplate library that compounds with every application.

Good questions

About grant writing

What size organizations do you work with?
From hyper-local, volunteer-run groups to regional, multi-chapter entities. Small organizations are a specialty — I've supported a startup's Department of Energy application and neighborhood nonprofits in the same season.
Do you work on commission?
No. Commission-based grant writing violates the AFP Code of Ethics and funders frown on it. Engagements are project-based or retainer-based, scoped transparently before we begin.
Can you help us find grants too?
Yes — prospecting is part of the fundraising strategy service, and most grant writing engagements start there: the right funder matters more than a perfect proposal to the wrong one.
What do you need from us to start?
Less than you'd think: your mission, program details, a budget, and access to someone who knows the work. I'll draw the rest out in discovery — that's the job.
