Academic Tutoring
1:1 tutoring in English and social sciences for high school and college students — essays, research papers, and the skills that make writing easier.
Some students need help with a paper. Some need help with writing itself. Most sit somewhere in between — capable, busy, and quietly convinced they’re “just not a writer.”
They’re wrong, and I can prove it. Writing is a process, not a talent, and it can be taught: how to break a prompt apart, how to build a thesis worth defending, how to outline so the draft nearly writes itself, and how to revise without starting over. I’ve spent 5+ years tutoring high school and college students through exactly this, and the pattern holds — when the process clicks, the grades follow, and the dread goes away.
Sessions are one-on-one and built around real coursework. We fix the paper that’s due Friday and the habits that made it hard. And because I explain the why behind every edit, students leave each session a little more independent than they arrived.
How we’ll work together
- To — A first session to understand the course, the assignments, and where writing breaks down.
- Through — Regular sessions working real assignments, building the process one paper at a time.
- Beyond — A student who outlines without prompting, revises without panic, and writes with confidence.
