Most small nonprofits don’t have a fundraising problem. They have a fundraising pattern problem: every ask is an emergency, every grant is a one-off, and nobody has time to build the systems that would make next year easier.

Strategy work breaks the pattern. We start with an honest assessment — where your money comes from now, what it costs you to raise it, and where your mission gives you an unfair advantage. From there: a funding mix designed for your actual capacity, a prospect pipeline with reasons attached, and a 12-month calendar that tells you what to do in March so December isn’t a crisis.

For organizations that want a partner rather than a project, I provide ongoing monthly counsel — the senior development thinking of a director-level hire, at emerging-organization scale. Two of my longest clients work this way: a nonprofit elevating fitness resources for people with physical disabilities, and a coalition addressing substance abuse and mental health in their community. Years in, we’re still building.

How we’ll work together

  1. To — Assessment: your funding history, your capacity, and your realistic opportunities.
  2. Through — The roadmap, then the work: prospecting, appeals, campaigns, and course corrections as results come in.
  3. Beyond — A development operation that outlasts the engagement — systems, calendar, and confidence.

Good questions

About fundraising strategy

We're an emerging organization with no development staff. Is this for us?
It's exactly for you. Ongoing consulting exists for organizations that need senior fundraising thinking but can't yet justify a development hire — you get the strategy and the accountability without the salary line.
What does ongoing consulting look like?
A monthly rhythm: we set the plan, I keep it moving — prospect research, appeal drafts, grant calendar, board asks — and we adjust as results come in. Two current clients have worked with me this way for years.
How is this different from grant writing?
Grant writing is one channel. Strategy is the mix: grants, individual giving, events, sponsorships — weighted for your mission, community, and capacity. Most small organizations over-rely on one channel; the strategy fixes that.
Can you work with our board?
Yes — board orientation and governance support is a separate service, and the two pair well. A board that understands fundraising is a fundraising asset.
